Hulu makes watching TV on the Internet easier than ever

The Internet and TV have finally combined into something useable, legal and available anytime.

Hulu is a new Internet video service that allows users to access hundreds of full-length television episodes, movies, and other video content online, all for free.

But there is a catch – the content is not commercial-free.

TV show content ranges from current primetime shows like the “The Office” and “Lost,” to classics like “Miami Vice” and “The Partridge Family.” Availability of full-length episodes varies from series to series, but the site has plenty of content, and more content is added every week.

The site uses high quality streaming video and also has a small amount of High-Definition movie trailers available as well. High-Definition will be expanded to more than just trailers as the site grows over time.

The user interface of the site is clear and clutter-free, which is a great departure from what other video sites like YouTube offer. Hulu is divided into two main sections: TV and movies. TV is divided into various subcategories such as popular episodes, popular clips and popular shows. You can also list TV content by genre, network, or in alphabetical order.

On the movie side, you can sort by popular movies, popular clips, alphabetical, genre or studio. All content can be viewed in full screen as well as in a smaller mode for viewing within a website.

Hulu also allows you to embed clips in blog posts or share your favorite clips with others via email.

Users can bookmark their favorite clips or subscribe to their favorite TV shows by adding the content to their list. When new episodes become available on the site, the content is added to their list automatically so users doesn’t have to dig through the site to find the latest episode of their favorite show.

Hulu is a step in the right direction for television networks as well as movie studios. Making content available online for free allows users to catch shows they might have missed, and also allows studios to make money off of the content by showing commercials.

Once the site becomes more popular and gains an audience, the catalogue of content should grow. You may not be able to download the shows to your computer and view them on a portable media device for free just yet, but Hulu does make viewing your favorite TV shows and movies on a computer a lot easier and more manageable.

Visit www.hulu.com to get started with your online television and movie watching experience.
